Founder & Managing Director

As the Founder and Director of one of London’s leading tourism marketing, PR and MICE agency, Emma is one of the most connected and influential figures in the UK travel and business events industry. With more than sixteen years practical experience in the tourism, meetings, marketing and PR sectors, her wealth of industry knowledge and expertise is unparalleled.

Emma’s extensive career spans a wide range of sectors, from tour operators and cruise lines to travel management and business organisations. However, her passion for destination marketing, and an in-depth understanding of the UK and European tourism and MICE industries, has resulted in Emma carving out a niche as the go-to expert for overseas government agencies seeking to increase their brand awareness, visitation numbers and tourism economic receipts.

In my spare time I can be found either in my beloved split screen camper, playing my saxophone or looking through a telescope at the stars and planets.

Luisa Uruena

PR Director

I am the PR Director at Axis Travel Marketing and have more than 11 years of experience in public relations. During my eight years at the company my role involves devising successful strategic campaigns and providing the kind of proactive, hands on PR that consistently delivers results for our clients, having a positive impact on areas such as visitation and brand integrity and delivering a clear return on investment. I love food, enjoy cooking, and trying out quirky places to eat!

Lauren Sycamore

Account Director

I have over 14 years’ experience in the worldwide representation arena and can literally say that I have grown up in the travel industry. I have been lucky enough to represent clients as diverse as South American countries, North American States & Cities, high end ski resorts and large hotel chains in the Far East. I joined Axis in 2010 and now, as Destinations Director,  oversee all travel trade leisure accounts under the Axis umbrella working closely with my team to ensure strategic success. I like to say I am an “old hand” at many of the leisure trade and consumer representation principles but at the same time young and vibrant enough to understand the importance of emerging trends and the ability to tap into those channels. Outside of work passions include good wine, holidays, skiing and most importantly my young family!

Fenella Tobey

Account Manager

I am the Account Manager for the Florida Keys and Key West, Ottawa Tourism and Tourism Nova Scotia. I came to Axis with a PR background having worked in the travel sector for two years prior to transitioning in the marketing sphere. During that time I was lucky enough to work closely with Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. and many other great travel and luxury lifestyle brands, including tour operators, cruise ships and high end restaurants.  I’m a country bumpkin at heart with a great love for the outdoors, who is currently living it up in the big city. I get a kick out of DIY, be it making shelves or sewing my own clothes, and if I could dance my way through life I would.

Carlo Schembri

Business Development Director - MICE

After a 2 year stint in Italy, I started my career in sales and events. Over the past 7 years I have been managing large scale exhibitions around the world, across multiple industries and have been fortunate enough to be based in Singapore then Dubai. The birth of my son brought me back to the UK in 2018 and since then I have been working on a market focused growth strategy within my portfolio.

My role is business development director, responsible for driving the MICE business into Canada.

Joanne Simmons

Account Manager - MICE

Joanne was educated in modern languages at the University of London. She is experienced in MICE and leisure marketing for luxury hotels and international destinations. She has also produced live music shows for an entertainment company. She enjoys quizzes, singing, theatre and occasional radio broadcasting in her spare time.

Susie Fairfax

PR Director

Susie has been working in communications for over thirty years having started her career as an actress and then moved into media and public relations for clients including Good Housekeeping, Cosmopolitan and BBC Good Food magazines. In travel communications she has been lucky enough to work for such diverse locations as Mexico, Curacao, Canada, Lisbon, Kuala Lumpur and South Australia. Susie is a published travel writer and has travelled extensively, including a year in Australia, where I worked as a ‘Jillaroo’ in central Queensland and crossed the Nullarbor Plain by train. She has spent time in many locations around the world – highlights include trekking in Nepal and exploring the Galapagos islands.

Like her colleagues at Axis she loves travel, food, cooking, yoga and spending time with her bulldog Flora.

Katie Upple

PA to Managing Director / Account Executive

After 12 years in retail and hospitality management it was time for a change when I joined Axis a year ago, I have always loved to travel for leisure and have been lucky enough to visit many places so working for Axis was the next logical step.  

I help behind the scenes across all of Axis clients.  Whether it is helping with critical travel logistics, administration to complete key projects, or streamlining systems and processes.  

Life is pretty busy between family life and work, my weekends are often spent at the beach in all weathers with my 2 young children or spending time on my parents river boat which I’m slowly learning to drive and dock. In my free time I love to swim!

Rusty

Filing Assistant / Security

Rusty is our office filing assistant.  He is always on hand to collect paper from the printer, bark at competitors ;-), or be available for as many therapy cuddles as required.
